Digital Asset Fund
A Cayman fund investing in cryptocurrencies, tokens or other digital assets, regulated under the same fund regimes as traditional funds.
A digital asset fund is a Cayman fund whose strategy involves cryptocurrencies, tokens or other digital assets. It is regulated under the Mutual Funds Act or Private Funds Act depending on whether it is open- or closed-ended, but raises additional considerations around custody of digital assets, valuation of volatile or illiquid tokens, cyber and key-management risk, and the interaction with the Virtual Asset (Service Providers) Act. Institutional-grade governance and custody arrangements are central to allocator confidence.
Classification and registration depend on the full statutory definition, the entity’s terms and applicable exclusions. Strategy labels alone do not determine the regulatory route.
