Fund Structures & Vehicles

Mutual Funds Act (As Revised)

A hedge fund is a pooled investment vehicle using an investment strategy such as long/short equity, macro, relative value or event-driven trading. Many are open-ended and may use derivatives, leverage or short selling, although none of those features is universal. Cayman funds are commonly structured as exempted companies, partnerships, unit trusts or portfolios of SPCs. Regulatory classification depends on the legal terms and statutory definitions, not the hedge-fund label or performance-fee arrangements.
