Mutual Fund
A Cayman fund whose investors can redeem or withdraw their interests at their option, generally regulated by CIMA under the Mutual Funds Act.
A mutual fund is a Cayman Islands company, unit trust or partnership that issues equity interests which are redeemable or repurchasable at the option of the investor; the defining feature that distinguishes it from a closed-ended private fund. Most mutual funds must register with, or be licensed by, the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) under the Mutual Funds Act, with the applicable category depending on investor numbers, minimum investment and structure. Ongoing obligations typically include audited financial statements filed through a Cayman auditor, an annual return and prescribed fees.
