Special Purpose Vehicle
A Cayman entity established for a specific, often single, transaction or holding purpose, to isolate assets or risk.
A special purpose vehicle (SPV) is an entity formed to carry out a defined and limited purpose; such as holding a particular asset, ring-fencing a transaction, issuing securities or facilitating a financing; so that the associated assets and risks are isolated from other activities. In the Cayman Islands SPVs are commonly exempted companies, and are widely used in structured finance, securitisation, joint ventures and asset-holding structures.
