Unit Trust
A fund constituted as a trust, in which a trustee holds assets on trust for investors who hold units.
A unit trust is a fund structured as a trust, under which a trustee holds the fund's assets on trust for the benefit of investors who hold units representing their proportionate interest. Unit trusts are frequently used for funds marketed to Japanese and certain other Asian investors, who are familiar with the structure. The trustee owes fiduciary duties to unitholders, and the trust is governed by its trust deed alongside the applicable fund regulation.
