Economic Substance

International Tax Co-operation (Economic Substance) Act (As Revised)

October 17, 2026

A relevant activity is one of the defined categories of business that triggers the economic substance test; including fund management business, financing and leasing business, headquarters business, holding company business, intellectual property business, distribution and service-centre business, banking, insurance and shipping. A relevant entity carrying on a relevant activity must demonstrate adequate substance in Cayman for that activity and report accordingly. Identifying which, if any, relevant activities apply is central to compliance.
