Suspicious Activity Report
A report made to the Cayman Financial Reporting Authority where there is knowledge or suspicion of money laundering or related conduct.
A suspicious activity report (SAR) is the report made to the Cayman Islands Financial Reporting Authority where a person knows or suspects, or has reasonable grounds to know or suspect, that another is engaged in money laundering, terrorist financing or related criminal conduct. Internal reports are made to the MLRO or DMLRO, who assess them and, where appropriate, file an external SAR. Making required reports, and not tipping off, are legal obligations under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
