Virtual Asset Service Provider
A business providing specified virtual asset services, with Cayman registration or licensing determined by the activities undertaken.
A virtual asset service provider carries on specified virtual asset services as a business in or from Cayman. The applicable route depends on the activity and statutory framework. Virtual asset custody and trading platform services are subject to licensing requirements effective from 1 April 2025; registration should not be presented as sufficient for those activities. Other in-scope services, exemptions and waivers require separate analysis. Holding digital assets for a fund’s own investment strategy does not, by itself, make that fund a VASP.
